The role focuses on camera application development, camera framework performance optimization, AI-driven camera features integration, and comprehensive unit test case development. The engineer will work across the camera application stack — from app layer to framework level — ensuring high performance, reliability, and quality of camera software.Key Responsibilities:Software Development:Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software in Java/C++ for Android mobile camera applications and framework components.Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and design patterns.Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of code quality and development processes.Camera Application & Framework Development:Develop and maintain camera applications and camera framework components on the Android platform.Work with Camera2/CameraX API and Android camera framework to implement and optimize camera features and functionalities.Design and implement camera application features including preview, capture, recording, portrait mode, night mode, and other advanced camera functionalities.Develop and maintain camera framework services, APIs, and internal interfaces to support camera application features and third-party integrations.App Framework Performance Optimization:Analyze and optimize camera application and framework performance, including launch time, preview latency, capture throughput, and memory usage.Profile and identify performance bottlenecks using tools such as systrace, Perfetto, simpleperf, and Android Studio Profiler.Optimize camera pipeline performance at the application and framework level to ensure smooth user experience and efficient resource utilization.Implement performance monitoring and benchmarking frameworks to continuously track and improve camera app and framework performance metrics.AI-Driven Camera Features:Leverage AI and machine learning skills to develop intelligent camera features and automation solutions.Build AI-based models for scene detection, image enhancement, and intelligent camera mode selection within the camera application layer.Develop AI-driven test automation solutions for camera application testing, including automated defect detection and smart test scenario generation.Integrate on-device AI models and ML inference pipelines into the camera application framework for real-time camera intelligence.Unit Test Case Development:Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive unit test cases for camera application and framework components.Create testable and modular code architectures that support effective unit testing and test-driven development (TDD) practices.Develop mock frameworks and test harnesses to validate camera application logic, framework APIs, and internal interfaces in isolation.Achieve and maintain high code coverage for camera application and framework modules through systematic unit test case development.Testing & Debugging:Conduct thorough testing and debugging of camera features across different Android devices and configurations.Analyze crash logs, ANRs, and performance issues using tools like ADB, logcat, systrace, and other profiling tools.Perform integration testing and end-to-end testing of camera application features and framework components.Collaboration & Problem-Solving:Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, product management, and other development teams to address defects, improve application performance, and enhance user experience.Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to drive best practices in camera application and framework development.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Qualification & Preferred Skills:- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related technical field.- 4 to 7 years of experience in software development with strong proficiency in Java and C++.- Strong experience with Android application development and Android framework components.- Experience with Camera Application development using Camera2 API and CameraX.- Experience with camera framework development and Android camera services.- Experience with app framework performance optimization and profiling tools (systrace, Perfetto, simpleperf, Android Studio Profiler).- Good to have: AI/ML skills for developing intelligent camera features and test automation solutions.- Good to have: Experience with on-device ML inference and model integration .- Good to have: Experience with computer vision and image processing libraries (e.g., OpenCV).- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Gerrit).- Familiarity with Android build system (AOSP) and build tools.- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
