Modem Engineer (FPGA)
We are looking for a Senior Engineer (FPGA) to join a Radio & Communications division and play a key role in the design, architecture, and development of advanced communication systems. This role focuses on FPGA-based modem implementation, combining digital design, signal processing, and embedded system integration in high-performance, real-time environments.
This position is suited for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in FPGA development, modem architectures, and digital communications, capable of driving complex technical solutions from concept through deployment.
Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of FPGA-based modem architectures and signal processing solutions.

Define, implement, and optimize complex RTL designs using VHDL (or Verilog where applicable).

Drive FPGA architecture decisions, balancing performance, resource utilization, power consumption, and scalability requirements.

Lead modem feature implementation, including synchronization, channel coding, modulation/demodulation, filtering, and signal processing functions.

Perform and oversee RTL design, simulation, verification, timing closure, and hardware debugging activities.

Architect and support integration of FPGA solutions with embedded platforms, including DSPs, GPPs, and SoC-based systems.

Collaborate closely with RF, system, software, and hardware engineering teams to define and implement communication system requirements.

Analyze system performance and drive optimization efforts for throughput, latency, reliability, and FPGA resource efficiency.

Support system integration, validation, and troubleshooting in laboratory and field environments.

Review technical designs and code, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and best practices.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance across FPGA and modem development activities.

Contribute to technical roadmaps, feasibility studies, and architecture evaluations for future communication products.
Required Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in FPGA and RTL development.

Strong expertise in FPGA design using VHDL (Verilog knowledge is an advantage).

Extensive experience with FPGA development flows and tools, preferably within the Xilinx ecosystem.

Deep understanding of digital signal processing and wireless communication systems.

Proven experience designing and implementing modem technologies in FPGA.

Strong knowledge of communication system architectures and digital baseband processing.

Extensive experience with RTL simulation, verification methodologies, testbench development, and debugging tools.

Experience integrating FPGA solutions with embedded systems, including DSP, GPP, and SoC platforms.

Proficiency with MATLAB or equivalent tools for algorithm development, modeling, and validation.

Experience optimizing FPGA designs for timing closure, resource utilization, and system performance.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Experience with high-speed communication systems and real-time signal processing applications.

Hands-on experience with SoC FPGA platforms such as Xilinx Zynq or similar architectures.

Strong understanding of RF systems and interaction between RF front-end and digital baseband processing.

Experience with FPGA verification methodologies (UVM or similar frameworks).

Familiarity with SDR (Software Defined Radio) platforms and architectures.

Experience contributing to system architecture definition and technical leadership activities.
