Job description
Test Environment Management
-
Own the day-to-day management of, QA, system testing, UAT, performance testing, and other non-production environments.
-
Maintain an accurate inventory of environments, applications, infrastructure components, integrations, versions, and environment-specific configurations.

Monitor environment availability, stability, utilization, and readiness.
-
Coordinate environment provisioning, refreshes, rebuilds, upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Ensure environments are appropriately aligned with planned testing and release activities.

Environment Planning & Scheduling
-
Develop and maintain an integrated test environment calendar covering releases, testing cycles, deployments, maintenance, data refreshes, and environment reservations.

Coordinate environment requirements across multiple projects, programs, and application teams.
-
Identify scheduling conflicts and competing environment demands and facilitate prioritization and resolution.
-
Forecast future environment capacity and availability requirements based on project and release roadmaps.
-
Communicate planned outages, environment changes, and availability constraints to stakeholders.
Environment Readiness
-
Define and manage environment readiness criteria for major testing phases.
-
Coordinate readiness checks before SIT, UAT, regression, performance, and other testing cycles.
-
Validate that required application versions, infrastructure, interfaces, configurations, connectivity, and test data are available.
-
Track readiness issues through resolution and escalate risks that could impact testing timelines.

Provide clear go/no-go environment readiness status to project and release stakeholders.
Incident & Problem Management
-
Coordinate investigation and resolution of environment-related incidents.
-
Establish clear ownership and escalation paths for environment issues.
-
Facilitate troubleshooting across application, infrastructure, database, network, middleware, vendor, and integration teams.

Track recurring environment failures and drive root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
-
Distinguish application defects from environment/configuration issues to minimize unnecessary testing delays.
Test Data & Integration Coordination
-
Coordinate with Test Data Management, database, security, and application teams to ensure appropriate test data is available.
-
Support environment refreshes, database refreshes, data masking, and test-data synchronization activities.
-
Ensure required interfaces, APIs, batch processes, middleware components, and external integrations are available for testing.
-
Coordinate dependencies involving third-party or vendor-managed test environments.
Governance & Controls
-
Establish and maintain standards, processes, and procedures for test environment management.
-
Implement appropriate controls for environment access, configuration changes, deployments, and maintenance.
-
Maintain environment documentation, architecture information, dependency maps, support contacts, and operating procedures.
-
Support security, audit, compliance, and change-management requirements applicable to non-production environments.
-
Promote automation and standardization of environment provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and validation.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
-
Provide regular reporting on environment health, availability, incidents, utilization, upcoming activities, risks, and dependencies.
-
Maintain dashboards and metrics related to environment performance and operational effectiveness.
-
Facilitate environment planning and readiness meetings with technical and business stakeholders.
-
Escalate environment risks and constraints that could affect project milestones or releases.

Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-program test environment coordination.

Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
-
Typically 5+ years of experience in IT delivery, application support, infrastructure, QA, DevOps, release management, or environment management.
-
Experience supporting complex enterprise application environments.
-
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing lifecycle.
-
Experience coordinating multiple non-production environments across concurrent projects and releases.
-
Working knowledge of application infrastructure, databases, middleware, APIs, networking, cloud platforms, and system integrations.
-
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and configuration management.
-
Experience with IT service-management processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skills.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience working in large, highly integrated enterprise environments.
-
Experience with Agile, DevOps, and/or scaled delivery models.
-
Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms.

Experience with cloud and container technologies such as Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
-
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management practices.
-
ITIL certification or practical experience applying ITIL processes.
-
Experience managing environments involving third-party vendors and external integrations.
-
Experience operating in a regulated industry such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, or government.
