We are looking for a Cypress Automation Engineer to join our growing team in the Canada! 

Location: Canada Remote

Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on QA Automation Engineer with strong Cypress, TypeScript, API, and automation framework experience to test web applications, APIs, and end-to-end workflows.

This is primarily an SDET / Test Automation role focused on building scalable automation, integrating tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring quality across Agile development teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of scalable Cypress automation frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites to maximize test coverage, reliability, and regression efficiency.
• Build reusable Cypress components, utilities, custom commands, and automation standards aligned with best practices and framework architecture.
• Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid feedback throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze automation results, troubleshoot test failures, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings and recommendations to development teams.
• Develop and maintain automated API and integration tests using Cypress, Postman, and related testing tools.
• Perform manual validation of user stories and new functionality while continuously identifying opportunities to expand automation coverage.
• Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, test data requirements, and traceability within Azure DevOps.
• Participate in pull request testing, release validation, deployment verification, and regression testing activities.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to define and achieve quality objectives.
• Validate functional and non-functional requirements and ensure appropriate traceability between requirements, test cases, and automation coverage.
• Track and report quality metrics, defects, automation coverage, test execution results, and quality trends to support informed release decisions.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote automation standards, effective testing practices, and continuous quality improvement across QA teams.

Technical Skills

• Expert-level experience with Cypress and modern test automation practices.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable UI and API automation frameworks using Cypress.
• Proven experience integrating automated test suites with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of automation framework architecture, design patterns, reusable components, and testing best practices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
• Extensive experience with Azure DevOps, including Test Plans, test case management, sprint and user story validation, feature branch deployments, build and release pipelines, and test execution reporting.Ability to identify, define, and manage test data requirements to support effective and reliable test execution.

Professional Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on test automation.
• Proven experience building, enhancing, and maintaining Cypress-based automation frameworks for enterprise web applications.
• Strong experience testing web applications, REST APIs, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) services.
• Experience working across multiple development teams and managing QA activities independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments with frequent production releases.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering reliable, high-quality software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing Cypress automation solutions across large-scale enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with API automation using Cypress.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD, Git workflows, and software release management.
• Experience testing cloud-native applications hosted on Azure or AWS.
• Strong debugging, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
